ean Margaret Wemyss was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on September 18, 1926 to Robert Harrison Wemyss, a lawyer, fantastic wife Verna Simpson. Her mother perished when she was 4 years old, and her daddy later married his former sister in law Margaret Campbell Simpson.
