At the end of Hume’s composition was a debate that could not help being of interest to Madison. Hume expressed that in a large government there is enough room to refine the democracy, from your lower persons, who may be admitted in the first elections of the commonwealth, to the higher magistrate, whom direct all of the movements.
Madison had produced his very own theory with the extended republic. It is interesting to see just how he got these dispersed and incomplete fragments and built with them to make them into a great intellectual and theoretical composition of his own. Madison’s first total statement of this hypothesis came out in his “Notes on the Confederacy” written in April 1787, eight several weeks before the last version of it was posted as the tenth federalist. Starting with the proposition that “in his party government, the majority, ultimately provide the law. ” Madison in that case asks, what is to restrain an interesting bulk from unjust violations in the minority’s privileges? Three reasons could be claimed to meliorate the selfishness of the majority: first, “prudent regard for own good, as mixed up in general… good” and second, “respect intended for character” and finally, religiousness.
